In Cirugía Plástica Lomas we love to make it really clear what this procedure is for. Liposculpture, or liposuction, is NOT a weight loss surgery. The goal is to shape the body figure, reduce those areas with a tendency to store excess fat that has been resistant to diet and exercise. And inject that fat into areas where it is needed, such as buttocks or hips.
The ideal patient for this type of procedure is one with a body mass index of less than 30, and younger than 45 years old, because with age the skin retraction is lost.
It consists in the extraction of fat using cannulas, which are introduced through incisions smaller than 5mm (this leaves virtually no visible scars). If requested by the patient, the fat extracted can be injected in areas where an increase in volume is needed, always taking into consideration the height and biotype of our patient.
Recovery time: From 2 to 3 weeks. Remember that the final result will be obtained between 6 months and 1 year, since there are areas that take more time to deflate. It is necessary to use compression devices during the first two months after your surgery.
Type of Anesthesia: General, always under the supervision of a certified anesthesiologist, after cardiovascular evaluation.
From our particular point of view, we consider that it is NOT safe to extract more than 4 liters of fat in a single procedure. All safety measures must be taken to avoid complications, such as the use of elastic stockings as well as getting back to walking as soon as possible after the procedure.
